Weekly Update | April 30 - May 4

These last few weeks will certainly be busy as we wrap up the year! NWEA testing will take place on May 9 & 13, talent show May 15, the student lock in is May 17, the color Run is May 18, and finally end of year trips May 29 - 31.

Please keep a look out for important information coming home from your children, and as always, feel free to check the website with updates & information! I am working hard to ensure all information and forms are accessible online and via paper as we learn more and more about the challenge of middle school students getting papers all the way home and to you.

End of year trips will take place May 29 - 31. Please make sure you have connected with your grade level representative (see below) to ensure forms & payment have been submitted. We are aiming for 100% participation. If you need financial assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to Ms. Nickell or your child's crew teacher. Please talk with your grade level Outdoor Education rep to find out more information and see how you can help!

In order to raise more money for Outdoor Education opportunities for all students this year, and roll over money in grade level accounts for next year, the Middle School is hosting two events:

May 17: Middle School Student Lock In, $20/student

- Enjoy the Staff vs. Student basketball game, and then leave your middle schoolers at the school to enjoy games, movies, and more! In the morning, they will enjoy a pancake breakfast, and hopefully you can all enjoy the Color Run as a family in the morning!

May 18: Color Run, $15/participant

Please let us know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns about anything going on at school or anything that we have coming up (see below)!

As always, thank you for everything you do for your kids, for all of us in the middle school, and for Riverview.  Middle School can be a tricky time to maneuver, and we appreciate everyone working together as a team to support your kids.

We appreciate all of you so much!

April Habit of the Month : Perseverance

Each month, we focus on a particular Habit of a Scholar. For the month of April, teachers and all Riverview Crew members are on the lookout for students exhibiting Perseverance, and Crew lessons have an emphasis around persisting through challenges. We appreciate your continued support in conversations surrounding Perseverance at home.

Showing perseverance means being able to persist through challenges.

Students can show perseverance by:

  • Completing work and fulfilling responsibilities

  • Overcoming obstacles, frustrations, and setbacks

  • Showing effort

  • Learning from mistakes and accepting feedback

  • Making multiple attempts to reach a goal
